Erie, PA 16506

Classes Taught:
"I teach chair caning using the European method or what I refer to as the Instructional Method. The Euro method mixes the steps up a bit. As an instructional designer by profession, I have found the Euro method to be much easier for students to work with in the class. The pattern is more easily detected and helps students to visualize the weaving pattern for each of weaving steps in the chair caning process.
I also like to include information about antique collecting, including maintenance and repair of one's antique furniture collection.
I work with and teach all types of woven seat repairs, including fiber rush, splint or flat reed, Shaker tape, Danish cord, and all types of caned seats.
I make and teach basketmaking as well. I work with Nantucket style, Kentucky Rib, and Flat reed (Appalachian, Great Lakes, and Ohio River Valley styles. Basket designs are researched to reflect accurate techniques and materials to the appropriate era and region where the basket design originated.
If you are interested in basketmaking or seatweaving classes, or if you are interested in a demonstration of seatweaving to your organization or event, you can contact me at: the e-mail above."
Additional Info:
"We are committed to our business philsophy:
TaleWeavers is committed to preserving the heritage of early America through the research and restoration of antiques and folk crafts."
