Bash away your frustrations with Suzi's fun Smash-a-Gourd class!
Random weave is a basket weaving technique that is easy to learn. It is similar to a bird weaving material to create a beautiful and functional nest. You can use a variety of materials. In this class, we will use commercial space dyed reed. There’s no specific pattern, but a natural flow when weaving in this style. Most of the time there is little control over the shape, but we will be using a “defective gourd” as a mold for perfect shpaing. The gourd is smashed to remove the pieces, leaving a perfectly shaped basket.
Some choice of color will be available.
Tools needed: Your favorite basket weaving tools (water bucket, shears, awl, side cutters) and old towel. There will be some tools to share.
Hours – approximately 6-7 hours depending on weaving skill level
